HDFC MoneyBack+ earns 2 CashPoints for every ₹200 you spend, and 20 CashPoints per ₹200 at five partner brands: Amazon, BigBasket, Flipkart, Reliance Smart SuperStore and Swiggy. HDFC markets the partner rate as 10X. With a CashPoint worth up to ₹0.25, that works out to about 2.5% back at those five brands and 0.25% everywhere else. The 10X rate stops at 2,500 CashPoints a month.

Two rates, and the gap between them

There are only two earn rates. Spend at one of the five brands earns 20 CashPoints per ₹200. Everything else that earns at all gets 2 per ₹200. At ₹0.25 a CashPoint, the base rate pays ₹0.50 on every ₹200, which is 0.25%. The partner rate pays ₹5 on the same ₹200.

Spend that misses the five brands earns a tenth of what the same rupees earn on Swiggy or Amazon, so most of what the card returns depends on how much of your spend goes through those five merchants.

HDFC matches the five brands by the merchant’s own terminal IDs, so the 10X rate depends on the brand’s own payment terminal taking the charge. A Swiggy order paid on Swiggy is a match. A voucher for the same brand is not: voucher purchases earn the base rate and never 10X, even when the voucher is for a partner brand. EMI spends at the partner brands do not get 10X either.

The caps that decide a heavy month

The 10X rule carries its own monthly cap of 2,500 CashPoints. At 20 CashPoints per ₹200, you reach it after ₹25,000 of partner-brand spend in a month. In rupees, the 10X rate is worth at most ₹625 a month. Partner-brand spend above ₹25,000 in the same month adds nothing more at the 10X rate.

Above that sits a ceiling on every CashPoint the card earns: 15,000 per statement cycle, about ₹3,750 at ₹0.25 each. Base-rate spend almost never gets near it, because 15,000 CashPoints at 2 per ₹200 means ₹15,00,000 of spend in one cycle. In practice the 2,500-point cap is the one that binds.

The RuPay variant has a third cap. CashPoints from RuPay UPI spends stop at 500 a month, about ₹125. A card linked to UPI and used for many small payments can hit that limit before the main caps come into play.

What earns nothing

The exclusion list is long, and its categories are the large, regular bills. Fuel (MCC 5172, 5541, 5542 and 5983), rent (6513), wallet and prepaid loads (6540), gift cards (5947) and jewellery (5094 and 5944) earn nothing. Government payments earn nothing either: MCC 9211, 9222, 9223, 9311, 9399, 9402, 9405 and 9950. EMI conversions, cash advances, card fees and payments towards the outstanding balance never earn.

Education fees depend on how you pay. Codes 8211, 8220, 8241, 8244, 8249 and 8299 earn nothing through a third-party app. They still earn when you pay on the school or college’s own website or card machine. The same fee can earn or not depending on where you pay it.

Fuel earns no CashPoints, but it does get a surcharge waiver. The waiver is 1% on transactions between ₹400 and ₹5,000, capped at ₹250 a month. It refunds the surcharge the pump adds to the bill.

A worked month

Take ₹20,000 of spend in a month: ₹10,000 at the five partner brands and ₹10,000 elsewhere on spends that earn. The partner half earns 1,000 CashPoints (₹10,000 ÷ ₹200 × 20). The other half earns 100 (₹10,000 ÷ ₹200 × 2). That is 1,100 CashPoints, about ₹275 at ₹0.25 each. The partner-brand half produces nearly all of it. Its spend is well under the ₹25,000 at which the 10X cap binds, so all of it earns at the full rate.

Move the same ₹10,000 of partner spend into the base column and the month falls to 200 CashPoints. Moving spend the other way is limited by the cap: past ₹25,000 at the five brands, extra partner spend in that month adds nothing at 10X.

What it costs to hold

The annual fee is ₹500. Paying it brings a joining bonus of 500 CashPoints, about ₹125 at ₹0.25 each. The renewal fee is waived on ₹50,000 of annual spend, about ₹4,167 a month. The worked month above reaches that in under three months.

Foreign-currency spends carry a 3.5% markup. On the same spend, that markup is larger than anything the base rate earns back. The card lists no lounge access.

The card’s eligibility lists a minimum annual income of ₹2,40,000, or an annual ITR of ₹6,00,000.

The value of a CashPoint

Every rupee figure here assumes ₹0.25 a CashPoint, and HDFC’s own wording is “up to ₹0.25”. That is the ceiling, and what you get depends on how you redeem. A redemption route that pays less per point lowers every rupee figure in this guide by the same proportion, the caps included, and the 2.5% at partner brands is the best case.

What to check on your own statement

Three things show whether the card is paying what it appears to pay. First, see whether each partner-brand charge earned 20 CashPoints per ₹200 or 2. A charge that shows up under a different merchant name may not have matched the brand’s terminal. Second, add up the month’s 10X CashPoints against the 2,500 cap. A month that crossed ₹25,000 at the five brands has spend that earned nothing extra. Third, look for the excluded categories in the month’s spend: rent, fuel, wallet loads, gift cards, and any education fee paid through an app. They show up on the statement and earn nothing.

The facts table under this guide is the card’s catalog record, with its verification date. Krediit tracks that record against your own spend, shows how much of the 2,500-point cap is left before a purchase, and flags an excluded merchant code before you pay.
