What does Axis's MakeMyTrip EMI offer take off a flight?

Axis cards get 10% off a domestic flight on MakeMyTrip, up to ₹1,800, on EMI only. What the EMI costs, and what an Atlas card gives up in Miles.

On a domestic flight, the offer takes 10% off the fare, up to ₹1,800. It applies only when you pay with an Axis Bank credit card on EMI, enter the code AXISEMI, and the booking is ₹7,500 or more. International flights get 8% off, up to ₹5,000, with the code AXISINTEMI. The offer runs from 1 September to 30 November 2026, and each card gets one flight booking in each category across the whole period.

A full swipe gets nothing from this offer, because the discount is tied to the EMI option on MakeMyTrip’s payment page.

How the offer is built

The terms list a rate, a ceiling and a floor for each kind of booking.

Domestic flights get 10%, up to ₹1,800, on a booking of ₹7,500 or more. International flights get 8%, up to ₹5,000, on ₹10,000 or more. Domestic hotels get 12%, up to ₹5,000, on a booking of at least ₹5,000. International hotels get 10%, or 15% at selected properties, up to ₹20,000, on ₹10,000 or more.

The offer page’s headline says “up to 25%”. That figure belongs to holiday packages, and no flight or hotel in the table reaches it.

The ceilings set where the discount stops growing. At the ₹7,500 floor, a domestic flight gets ₹750 off. The ₹1,800 ceiling fills at a fare of ₹18,000, and a costlier domestic booking still gets ₹1,800. On an international flight the ₹5,000 ceiling fills at ₹62,500.

For flights, the percentage is worked on the booking amount without MakeMyTrip’s convenience fee and without add-ons such as meals or insurance. For hotels it is worked on the pre-tax room price, and the terms say the hotel offer covers select hotels only.

The terms allow “1 booking per card per category throughout the offer period”, and that line limits the offer more than any ceiling does. A card that has used its domestic flight booking in September has none left for October or November. International flights, domestic hotels and international hotels each keep their own single use.

What the EMI costs

The offer pairs the discount with what the terms call additional savings on EMI, on the three-month tenure. MakeMyTrip returns the interest on a three-month plan, and two charges stay with you.

The terms carry their own example. A ₹30,000 ticket on a three-month plan attracts ₹782 of interest, and that ₹782 is adjusted against the amount payable. GST on the interest, ₹140.76 in the example, is not returned. The terms put the total cost at ₹30,140.76.

The second charge is the bank’s EMI processing fee. The terms say it is not covered, and that the bank bills it once, with the first instalment. They do not state the amount.

The mechanics are in the terms too. Your card is blocked for the full booking amount at MakeMyTrip, and the bank converts it to an EMI within 4 to 7 days. The interest return is described for the three-month tenure, and the terms describe none for a longer plan.

What the fine print carries

A cancellation ends the offer. If you cancel a booking in full or in part, MakeMyTrip refunds the price after deducting the discount and any cancellation charge, so a cancelled flight costs you the discount as well as the airline’s penalty.

The offer does not apply to part payments, to bookings paid partly or fully with gift cards, or to payments through MakeMyTrip’s wallet bonus, third-party wallets or PayPal. It cannot be combined with another MakeMyTrip offer. Corporate, commercial and NR cards are excluded.

If the interest cashback does not arrive, the terms give you three months from the booking date to claim it.

On an Atlas card, the discount costs Miles

The Atlas card’s record carries a condition that matters here. Flights earn 5 EDGE Miles per ₹100 only when booked on Axis Travel EDGE or directly with the airline. Bookings through travel agents or online travel sites earn the base 2 Miles per ₹100, and MakeMyTrip is an online travel site.

Take the ₹18,000 domestic fare that fills the discount. Booked on the airline’s own site with an Atlas card, it earns 900 EDGE Miles. Booked on MakeMyTrip with the offer, the card is charged ₹16,200, which at the base rate is 324 Miles. So the ₹1,800 off comes with 576 fewer Miles.

Two conditions sit on that comparison. Neither the card’s record nor the offer terms say whether a booking converted to EMI earns EDGE Miles at all, so treat the 324 as unconfirmed until a statement shows it. And the 5-Mile rate applies to the first ₹2,00,000 of combined flight and hotel spend in a month. Past that, a direct booking also earns 2 per ₹100, which on ₹18,000 is 360 Miles, and most of the gap closes.

What to check on your own booking

Enter the code and select the Axis EMI option before judging the price. The discount line appears on the payment page. If it is missing, the booking is outside the offer or the card has already used that category.

Check the tenure, since the interest return in the terms is for three months.

On the first statement after the booking, look for the processing fee and the GST on interest, and set both against the discount. What is left is what the offer paid you. Look for the interest adjustment as well. If it has not come through, the three-month claim window runs from the booking date.

The same statement shows whether the booking earned any Miles, and at which rate.

Krediit keeps the Atlas card’s record and this offer in one place, tracks how much of the month’s travel band you have used, and puts the discount beside the Miles it costs before you book.
